7th Age readers have been doing a fabulous job on their folder papers!

Tic-Tac-Toe

One of today's activities was to play number identification tic-tac-toe. In order to place an X or an O on a square we had to first identify the number. Table one played against table two. The first two rounds were both tie games! We were using great strategy to block one another!

The last game was won by the O team.

We had an opportunity to discuss sportsmanship before the game. After the O's won there were hugs and high-fives all around!

7th Age readers did a great job working as a team today during our story vocabulary word search. Great job friends!

Math Field Trip to Nurse Whitman's Office!

We had such a fun day today. Miss Gentry and Miss Clark's math groups joined together for a trip to Mrs. Whitman's office. There, we were able to measure our weight in pounds as well as our height in inches. Height and weight are two concepts we have been exploring in chapter six of our math books. We loved having the opportunity to engage in a fun activity using measurement. After we were measured and weighed we needed to write our measurements on our height and weight papers. We remembered our proper number formation from chapters four and five. Some friends were taller or shorter than others. Some friends were heavier or lighter than others. What a great activity!

Get Rich With Books!

During the Month of March, we will participate in a fun reading incentive program called "Get Rich With Books!". The students, with a little help from an adult, will choose how many books they can read or have read to them during the month. The minimum goal is 10 books. Remember, you can read the books to your child.

Please fill out the "gold" coins that have been sent home each time a book is read. Each coin will record the title and author of the books read. Please return the gold coins as you read so that we can fill our "Pot 'O Gold". Once everyone has reached his or her goal, our reading group will have a celebration!

Making Sentences

7th Age readers did a great job with the below activity.

The students were given a sheet of words that they needed to use to create sentences.

The first step was to cut all of the words out.

Next each card needed to be sorted according to the number in the top corner (1,2, or 3)
Using each set of cards the words needed to be arranged to create a sentence.

Once all three sentences were arranged properly it was time to copy each sentence using script.

The final step was to illustrate our sentences!

Sentences:

1. My friends play together after school.

2. We like to ride our bikes.

3. We also love to play ball!

Estimating Measurements

The Pilot mathematicians did a great job with this activity.

We had to estimate how many cubes long each object was and write down our guess. Next we used cubes to measure each object (crayon, pencil, eraser, and marker). Lastly we needed to color the graph to show how many cubes long each object was.

After we were finished coloring we were able to interpret our graph. Which object was the longest? Which object was the shortest? Ask a pilot math friend and they will be able to tell you!Great work!
