Is this a 6 or a 9?
Being able to identify the number 6 and the number 9 can be confusing. A few of us in Pilot Math were wondering how we would be able to tell the two numbers apart? We decided to draw pictures and create a saying to help us remember the difference between the two.
While comparing the two numbers we decided that the "6 has a belly" and the "nine has a head"
To help us remember we drew pictures where the six had food inside it's belly and the nine had a face and a hat.

Great Job Friends!
Once we were able to identify the number six it was time to properly form the number. We practiced forming the number on a large scale. Using plastic casing we were able to trace the number six with dry-erase markers. After each time we wiped the surface clean with a tissue then tried again. Check us out below, hard at work!
