In our latest story "Dragon Gets by" by Dav Pilkey we read about a shopping trip to the food store. Dragon loved shopping and tried to buy items from the five basic food groups. But he just could not get it right! He bought catsup from the fruit and vegetables groups. He bought cheese curls from the dairy group, and doughnuts from the bread group. We discussed why Dragon did not have a good diet. We even made shopping lists to help Dragon make better choices for a balanced diet.
As a fun activity we made our very own commercials about the food from the story. We pretended that Dragon was making a commercial for his favorite foods. We used describing words and did a great job acting out each commercial for our class.
