Chapter one focuses on attributes.
The first concept explored has been color. In this activity, Pilot mathematicians were charged with the task of finding objects throughout the classroom that matched the desired color. Friends used teamwork as they searched the room and placed various objects on the appropriate corresponding colored paper. Before we could move on to the next color the students needed to remember which item they had contributed as well as return it to its appropriate place in the room.
Yellow
The challenge was met with success!
A great extension of this activity would be to have your child browse old magazines looking for specific colors. Your child can use scissors (great for strengthening fine motor muscles) to cut out pictures that represent the desired color. Then glue the pictures onto a piece of paper. If you try this activity be sure to send it in with your child. I would love to see it.
