Tactile Experience

Pilot mathematicians had an opportunity to trace the number two before putting pencil-to-paper. Above the number two has been doted with small amounts of glue. Once the glue is dry it creates a tactile experience as fingers trace across the surface alternating between a smooth then bumpy feeling.
We traced the number starting at the yellow dot and spoke aloud about how we were forming the number.
Then we made the activity much harder by closing our eyes! This action effectively cut off our visual input and we had to rely solely on the tactile experience to guide us. It was difficult, but we were able to use the dots to feel our way and correctly trace the number.

Then, we used our pencils to create the number two on paper.
